Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories involve finding an instrument hidden in the attic of her home, and discovering the music that it made. The parents of her May-Britt family and Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to explore music and not just as an occupation or pastime but for growth. The singer began to write her own songs. Her sources include renowned writers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan and her affinity with Bjork's style. She began performing the songs she wrote publicly after her mother said it could aid people in to not become famous through the work she does, but to help people see around them realize the significance of what they do and how they can affect the world. In the age of 6, she began to play the piano, and when she was nine was writing music. She didn't tell her family about her musical journey until she was fourteen. Aurora wasn't just a fantasy of childhood. The singer claims that she is a fan of making music. She believes that music is the most effective way to experience any emotion.
